Town of Ladysmith

Nestled on the eastern shores of spectacular Vancouver Island, the Town of Ladysmith features all the warmth and charm of small town living with a full range of services and amenities. Ladysmith is a growing community (population 8,243 in 2010) located just 88 km (55 miles) north of Victoria and 23 km (14 km) south of Nanaimo.  This picturesque town sits on the hillside with a beautiful forests backdrop, overlooking Harbour.  Founded at the turn of the century, the Town is one of the oldest communities on Vancouver Island.  Ladysmith still retains a genuine small-town atmosphere.  Ladysmith is easily accessible by the land and air making it convenient for tourists, and also an excellent home for city commuters from Vancouver, Victoria and Nanaimo.  big city conveniences close-by, desirable weather, amenties, recreational venues and the overall beauty of the Town have made Ladysmith a sought-after place to live, work and play.

A 2003 National Communities In Bloom award winner, Ladysmith offers world-class outdoor recreational opportunities; a renowned trail system through picturesque forests; first-class shopping and dining in the historic downtown area; and fun-filled waterfront activities at pristine Transfer Beach. Ladysmith is known for its abundance of community spirit - share in the excitement at any one of our legendary annual celebrations, such as the Festival of Lights beginning on the last Thursday of November or Ladysmith Days in August.
