The RE/MAX Story

1973 
  

RE/MAX is born. Dave and Gail Liniger, two 20-somethings from Denver, Colorado, decide to develop a new real estate concept. They created RE/MAX – an acronym for “real estate maximums” – a system that encourages quality real estate salespeople to realise and develop their outstanding business potential.
  

 1976 
  

After only four years, the RE/MAX team is up to 500 Sales Associates 
  

 1978   
 

On its 5th birthday, RE/MAX boasts 1,000 Sales Associates and launches its RE/MAX Hot Air Balloon trademark.
  

 1982 
  

RE/MAX of Western Canada is established with a head office in Kelowna, BC, by Robert H. Cherot
  

 1988 
  

The number of RE/MAX Sales Associates skyrockets to 20,000 and RE/MAX becomes the No. 1 real estate organization in Canada.
  

 1993 
  

RE/MAX opens its first office in Europe.
  

 1995 
  

RE/MAX of Western Canada launches its first website.
  

 1997 
  

RE/MAX celebrates its quarter century with 48,000 Sales Associates in 2,900 offices around the world and a total of 1 million transactions that year.
  

 1999 
  

RE/MAX achieves 38.1% average market share in Western Canada.
  

 2001 
  

RE/MAX continues its upward growth trend and can now be found in 38 countries with more than 69,000 sales associates in over 4,000 offices worldwide.    
  

 2003 
  

RE/MAX Canada contributes $2.2 million to Children’s Miracle Network. The 200th office opens and the 4500th Sales Associate joins.
  

 2006 
  

RE/MAX launches new technology allowing agents to track and manage leads, as well as an online design tool to help create unique marketing materials.
  

 2013 
  

RE/MAX has the most productive sales force in the industry and a global reach of more than 80 countries. RE/MAX has raised more than $100 million for charity.
